First Slovak film in the history of independence receives award at Berlinale

The Slovak film Piata Ľod, which premiered at this year's Berlinale international film festival, received a Crystal Bear award in the section Generation Kplus movies on Sunday. The family drama based on the successful novel of the same name by Slovak writer Monika Kompaníková was chosen by a jury consisting of children of the Kplus generation. The last time a Slovak movie received an award at the Berlin-based festival was in 1989, during the era of Czechoslovakia.
