The 3.1 percent growth rate of the Slovak economy at the end of last year is a pleasant surprise for analysts. The completion of projects financed with money from the European Union had a strong effect on the dynamic of GDP growth in Slovakia, according to preliminary data from the Statistics Office. In addition to this, Slovak industry re-launched production in the fourth quarter of last year after summer shutdowns, benefiting from extreme rapid growth in demand, particularly in Europe.
