Despite playing without the two best ranked players, the Slovak female tennis team surprisingly beat their host Italy 3:2 in the first round of Fed Cup World Group II on Sunday. Thanks to this win, Slovaks have advanced to relegation match of the World Group I, which is to take place in late April again. The hero of the contest was the rookie Rebecca Šramková, who earned two points for Slovakia. "I congratulate the team's non-playing captain Matej Lipták for choosing and preparing a great team in a difficult situation," said Tibor Macko, president of the Slovak Tennis Association.
