Defence Minister meets with British Ambassador

Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš and British Ambassador to Slovakia Andrew John Garth held a meeting on Thursday. They both agreed that Slovakia and Great Britain have traditionally enjoyed good relations in terms of cooperation between their respective defence ministries and armed forces, which belong among the most active ties in the bilateral sphere. Minister Gajdoš appreciated British support to the Slovak Presidency of the EU Council by despatching an expert. "I can confirm that she was a solid part of our team and I'd like to praise her work highly, which I even decorated with a commemorative medal," said Gajdoš. He also praised the regular joint exercise Slovak Hawk in Sliač, which is slated for later this year. "The level of bilateral ties has grown deeper over the course of the past two years and I'm convinced that our relations will see further development," said Ambassador Garth. The meeting also revolved around current security problems, with Ambassador Garth stressing that Britain is meeting its defence commitments despite Brexit.
