Residents of Bratislava and its surrounding areas have to work the longest to afford new housing, reports the SME daily on Tuesday. According to their story, when considering their average gross salary and the average price of an apartment, Bratislava residents can afford to buy one square meter after 36 days of work. Meanwhile, residents in Trenčín, where apartment prices and salaries are lower, must work 21 days to buy a square meter. The appetite for new housing continues unabated with prices growing also in less lucrative districts like Spišská Nová Ves and Prievidza. Real estate analyst Martin Lazík told the daily that people are acting more irrationally than they did before, buying apartments in only a couple of hours instead of giving the decision more time.
