Slovak Prime Minister praises Malta Declaration on migration

The Malta Declaration, which was adopted at an informal meeting of the EU leaders last week and aims to decrease the flow of migrants from Africa, is a great news for everyone, said Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. "The attitude is very correct. Stopping the flows, protecting the outer borders of the EU and moving the problem of migration to where it springs, even for very high financial and personnel costs is something we've always wanted," said Fico. President of the European Council Donald Tusk said that the EU is ready to find additional resources for financing the new activities, which he called "a shared responsibility". The EU has decided to cooperate with Libya, which is the main transit country, in stabilising the country, training the local coast guard and fighting smuggling. The NGOs, however, are sceptical about the plans, claiming that very many people could get trapped in Libya, which they call an unstable country.
