The attempt of Slovak ultramarathon runner Jozef Rajchl to cross Australia has ended prematurely due to a suspicion of appendicitis. As the athlete announced on his social media profile on Sunday, he had run 1,987 kilometres in 29 days before he was forced to quit in approximately the middle of his 3,800 kilometre-long journey. Rajchl had been preparing for the run in winter 2012/2013, however, then, his attempt failed due to lack of finances. The Slovak started with ultramarathons in 2004. Among his successes are more than 5,000 km run across Europe from Helsinki, Finland to Tarifa in Spain in less than two months and 12,000 km run from Bratislava to the Chinese capital of Beijing.
