In September the unemployment rate in Slovakia went up to 13.84 percent, according to the Labour Office. Graduates and the end of seasonal work are the reasons behind this increase.
"New school-leavers increased the rate by 0.50 percentage points. Having said that, the number of new school-leavers registering at job centres was lower than in the 2009-2011 period," said UniCredit Bank analyst Ľubomír Korsnak. At the end of last month, labour offices registered 373,400 unemployed people who can start work immediately. The unemployment rate in September rose in all but one regions, namely Nitra.
