According to the Hospodárske noviny economic daily, US Steel is in advanced negotiations to sell its steel plant in the eastern Slovak city of Kosice. The American giant has allegedly signed a Memorandum of understanding with the Chinese company Hesteel Group. The next step, due diligence inspections, should soon follow. This might take weeks and months. US Steel's headquarters in Pittsburgh refuse to comment on this information for Slovak public broadcaster RTVS.
