EU Public Prosecutor's Office was a top priority of Slovak presidency

Justice Minister Lucia Žitňanská, in a meeting with European Commissioner for Justice, Consumer Protection and Gender Equality, Věra Jourová, agreed on the necessity of a European Public Prosecutor. Such a European-wide prosecutor would serve to effectively prosecute serious international VAT fraud and other big scams which have spread across Europe, often not being confined to individual state borders. Jourová acknowledged that during the Slovak Presidency of the EU Council, the European Union has made great progress towards the establishment of a European Public Prosecutor.
