The Honorary Consul of Slovakia to New Zealand Peter Kiely has been awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit from Queen Elizabeth II. Auckland-based Peter Kiely received the order within the annual tradition of honouring outstanding personalities in New Zealand - which is a part of the Commonwealth. As TASR press agency informed, Kiely received the award for his work in the legal sphere and for services he offered to New Zealand and the Pacific region. He has been the chair of the Pacific Cooperation Foundation. According to the Slovak Foreign Ministry spokesperson Peter Stano, Peter Kiely ranks among the most active and best evaluated honorary consuls for the country worldwide.
