Lack of integrity an issue for former Sieť party leader

The Judicial Council has received, through diplomatic channels, a written explanation from the Council of the EU's consultative committee on why it rejected the bid of former Sieť (Network) party leader Radoslav Procházka for the post of judge at the EU General Court in Luxembourg, according to the TASR press agency. The committee issued a negative position with regards to concerns about the candidate's integrity that have not been dispelled. This part of the stance provides no detailed reasoning. It includes only a brief mention concerning the candidate's intention to avoid taxation on certain expenditures on his presidential campaign in 2014. Judicial Council chair Jana Bajánková said in December 2016 that the new election of Slovakia's candidate for the post of EU general Court judge will probably take place at some time in the spring. Prochazka was Slovakia's second candidate for this position. The previous candidate was Mária Patakyová, who was rejected due to her inadequate command of the French language. Slovakia is the only country that still hasn't filled its vacancy for the post of EU General Court additional judge.
