Politicians react to president’s speech

The new year's speech of Slovak president Andrej Kiska was welcomed with mostly positive reactions. Vice chair of the biggest governing Smer-SD party Miroslav Číž praised the president's message of solidarity and his appeal for higher tolerance in both society and politics. However, he did not like that the president left the government out of his presentation of economic successes. Vice-chair of the largest opposition party, Freedom and Solidarity, Ľubomír Galko believes that the speech covered the topics which are crucial for Slovak citizens. Leader of another opposition party, Ordinary People, Igor Matovič thinks that Andrej Kiska showed that he is able to be "a beacon in turbulent waters".
