The Bratislava-Schwechat oil pipeline may eventually not be implemented. Economy Minister Peter Žiga admitted this, arguing he does not want to go against the strong resistance of those citizens opposed to the pipeline. According to him, this doesn't mean the project is definitely dead. "At this moment we are not so far away, and the pipeline will either happen or it won't. We'll look for alternative routes, said Žiga. The plan for an oil pipeline running between the Slovnaft and Schwechat oil refineries was proposed more than ten years ago with an estimated cost of up to €140,000,000.
