Almost 5 million illegally produced cigarettes, 1.5 tonnes of tobacco and technological equipment for producing consumer cigarette packages were seized by customs officers during a two-day raid. According to the Financial Administration, The raid took place in Dunajská Lužná and Malacky (both Bratislava region) on Wednesday and Thursday. The overall value of the seized goods has been evaluated at €1.35 million, with the possible tax evasion reaching around €700,000. Three suspects, all Ukrainian nationals, were detained in the raids. As Financial Administration's spokesperson Patrícia Macíková told TASR, "they should be put before a judge "soon", and could spend as much as eight years in jail, if convicted".
