Slovak President Andrej Kiska said on Tuesday that Monday's attack on a Christmas market in Berlin was no accident, noting that Germany is in a pre-election period and that the country has a welcoming attitude towards refugees. "We have to figure out how to identify mentally deranged individuals. We have to condemn them, and we must do our best to prevent such disasters from happening again," said Kiska, who is currently on a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Slovak head of state also echoed the words of German Chancellor Angela Merkel that Europe can't allow itself to be overwhelmed by fear. "I'd like to express my sincerest condolences to the families of the victims of the attack in Germany," added Kiska. On Monday (December 19), a truck ploughed into a Christmas market in Berlin's borough of Charlottenburg, leaving 12 people dead. A manhunt is underway for the driver of the truck.
