"We've presided over the EU for the first time ever, and we've done everything in our power to come out of it with dignity," is how Slovak President Andrej Kiska views the outcome Slovak Presidency of the EU Council according to a TASR report published on Sunday. The Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák is also satisfied with the results Slovakia achieved in this position during the past six months. "We're leaving behind some concrete results that are measurable, but also some that can't be measured but are no less important; for instance, the great respect that my colleagues, diplomats, ministers and cabinet members have gained over the past six months of leading EU Council sessions," stated Lajčák. His list of significant achievements includes the Bratislava summit on September 16th, the creation of the European Border and Coast Guard, ratification of the Paris Climate Agreement, and progress in enlargement talks with Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Albania.
