Slovakia sends humanitarian aid to Aleppo, Syria

At 08:30 this morning, a convoy of medical equipment, hospital beds and blankets left Interior Ministry logistics base in Vajnory, heading to three hospitals in the Syrian city of Aleppo. The total value of the humanitarian cargo exceeds €127,000. "The largest part of the aid includes medical devices for anaesthesiologists, ventilators, and devices to monitor a patient's vital signs from the Slovak manufacturer Chirana Stará Turá," informed the press department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). A shaky ceasefire currently exists in Aleppo between rebel fighters and government-backed soldiers, with the U.N. envoy for Syria on Tuesday evening calling for access to a formerly rebel-held enclave to confirm the end of military operations and to oversee the safe departure of tens of thousands of civilians and rebel fighters. The last-minute deal was mediated by Ankara and Moscow as the rebel enclave began to dissolve upon advances by Syrian forces. Part of the Slovak assistance is being provided by the non-governmental organisation Magna.
