As of Sunday, Bratislava and Košice are again connected by the Inter City trains of the state carrier. Thus, the company will resume competition with private carrier Regio Jet after almost a yearlong break. The state company will operate two trainsets travelling in both directions every day of the week. On their journey, which should take 4 hours and 42 minutes, the trains will stop at Trnava, Žilina, Poprad and Kysak (near Prešov). The company claims that it provides the fastest and the most comfortable connection between the capitals of western and eastern Slovakia. The first weekend trains were approximately 70% full and seats on pre-Christmas trains are also nearly sold out.
