Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak expressed Slovakia's interest in taking up the reins of the OSCE's rotating chairmanship in 2019. The chairmanship is currently held by Germany. Austria and Italy are to take over in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
Addressing an OSCE foreign ministers' meeting in Hamburg Lajcak also called for implementing policies that ensure people's dignity as well as for politics that are transparent and not 'behind-closed-doors and furtive,' as Lajcak put it.
