Most Slovak youngsters passive about hate speech on the web

According to the latest study conducted by the Public Affairs Institute, as many as 84 percent of young people in Slovakia have had some experience with hate speech on the internet.
Even though 68 percent of the young condemn hateful posts, comments or videos, 76 percent of them are passible when they come across hate speech.

"33 per cent of those who don't stand up against expressions of hatred on the internet will remain passive because they think the behaviour of haters is an expression of free will. Another 28 percent will do nothing because they think it is futile, while 15 percent don't notice such behaviour or don't think it's important," the Institute's analyst Marian Velsic told the TASR news agency.
