A police investigator has pressed charges of people smuggling against an organised group of seven people which includes four border police officers serving on the Slovak-Ukrainian Vyšné Nemecké border crossing, according to Police Corps Spokesperson Denisa Baloghová. The group also featured two former police officers and one Ukrainian national. "An investigation has shown that at least 275 illegal migrants, mainly from Russia, came over to our territory in this way," said Baloghová, adding that the group charged €200-400 per migrant, meaning that its total earnings reached at least €110,000. The Ukrainian national has been taken into custody, while the remaining group members are being prosecuted at large. People smuggling carries a prison sentences of seven to ten years. The four active police officers risk four to ten years in jail.
