The Cabinet has approved Slovakia's participation in the NATO CMX 2017 exercise, which aims to practise crisis management within the organisation and its member states.
This exercise will take place at the end of 2017 and will thus put in to practice Articles 4 and 5 of the Washington Treaty which deal with collective defence mechanisms.
The NATO Response Force's capabilities and Slovakia's capacity to be actively involved in crisis management will also be practised.
The exercise will be coordinated by the North Atlantic Council under the remit of NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg. The part of the exercise to take place in Slovakia will be coordinated by Slovak Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš.
