Extremist fined for smoke shell in front of Presidential Palace

Radical leftist, Stanislav Pirošík, has been fined €200 by the Bratislava I District Court, after firing a red smoke shell while at a demonstration in front of the Presidential Palace on November 11. This was reported by Bratislava Regional Court Spokesperson Pavol Adamčiak. "The Bratislava I District Court, with a ruling issued on November 21, decided to levy a financial penalty worth €200 on the accused Stanislav Pirošík," said Adamčiak. The court also decided that if Pirošík fails to pay the fine, he will be sentenced to prison for one month, he added. The police pressed charges of rowdiness against Pirošík last week and the case was dealt with in so-called super-fast proceedings. Pirošík, who is head of the far-left Vzdor (Resistance) party, lit the smoke shell at a protest staged by his party along with the Communist Party of Slovakia (KSS) and other leftist entities on November 17, the 27th anniversary of the fall of communism in erstwhile Czechoslovakia. According to Bratislava regional police directorate spokesperson Tatiana Kurucová, Pirošík was giving "active resistance" to an intervening police patrol which found another five smoke shells in his possession.
