Unemployment rate down to 9 percent in October

The unemployment rate in Slovakia stood at 9.08 percent in October, down by 1.9 percent in comparison to the same period of last year, according to the Labour Office (UPSVaR). When people who weren't able to take up jobs immediately were also taken into account, the unemployment rate in October stood at 10.50 percent, down by 2.2 percent year-on-year. In terms of districts, the Rimavská Sobota district (Banská Bystrica region) was the worst off with an unemployment rate of 25.2 percent, while Galanta district (Trnava region) was at the opposite end of the scale on 3.6 percent.
