Fourteen Slovaks among list of hundred best innovators

This year, fourteen Slovaks were added to the list of the hundred best innovators in the Central and Eastern European region. This was declared by the Polish foundation Res Publica, in collaboration with Google, the International Visegrad Fund and the Financial Times. The keynote speaker at the event in Brussels on Tuesday (16-11) was Slovak Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and Informatics Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD). The main objective of the event is to support innovation in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2016, the largest group of finalists were individuals and teams from the business sector (54 percent), followed by politicians and social personalities (29 percent). The remaining categories are people working in science (ten percent) and media and culture (seven percent). Pellegrini, who was also among those nominated for stressing the importance of the digital single market in Slovakia, stated that the award was a great honour, considering it a personal commitment for the future in his efforts to continue modernising Slovakia.
