Some 75 percent of women and 60 percent of working men in Slovakia saw less than €805 (gross) on their payroll last month. "Therefore a total of 67 percent of all 2.339 million Slovak employees received a salary lower than the average in 2012," said the deputy director of the Institute for the Research of Social and Economic Risks and Alternatives (IVRA) Martin Halas.
The analysis carried out by the Institute has also showed that more than 303,000 employed Slovaks earned only €410 per month or less in 2012. "The sum of €410 per month is the gross salary threshold, out of which the given person receives - after all tax and levy deductions - €346 per month, which is on the verge of poverty," said Halas adding that the relatively low salaries will of course have an influence on the pensions.
