Prime Minister Robert Fico is attending a meeting of premiers from the Visegrád Four (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) today, October 14, in Budapest. The four premiers are due to discuss issues pertaining to the current co-operation of the V4 countries on defence and security policy, along with energy and nuclear security in central Europe.
In addition, they should also talk about new initiatives proposed by Hungary, which has taken over the presidency of the grouping as of July 1, as concerns further development of the V4 countries co-operation. The V4 meeting is taking place today instead of the originally scheduled date of August 24 due to the complicated political situation in the neighbouring Czech Republic and the subsequent fall of Prime Minister Petr Necas's centre-right government.
