Slovak capital holds first-ever homeless survey

A survey was conducted in Bratislava last night to determine how many homeless people live rough in the city. This was carried out for first time. 140 volunteers took to the streets to ask those staying at homeless shelters if they were willing to fill in a brief questionnaire.

Based on the information obtained, the City Council plans to improve the effectiveness of the social welfare system which, according to experts, is not presently functioning.

The first numbers of the homeless living in the capital should be announced at the beginning of next week.
