Slovak policemen to protect EU-Turkish border

Another 25 Slovak policemen have left for the Bulgarian-Turkish border on a mission that is part of the European Border and Coast Guard.

Slovak Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák of the Smer-SD party met at the border crossing of Kapitan Andreevo in Bulgaria with his colleague sectoral Rumiana Bačvarova.

Slovakia already sent police officers to Bulgaria in October. They were meant to serve a minimum of one month there until they were replaced by another round of Slovak policemen.

Last year Slovakia sent more than 300 police officers on foreign missions to Macedonia, Hungary and Slovenia. This year they have also been despatched to Bulgaria and Serbia.
