Marks & Spencer leaving Slovakia

British clothing and foodstuffs company Marks & Spencer has announced plans to close its stores across Slovakia. Enterprises owned by the group last year reported losses on ten markets, including the Slovak market, of 45 million British pounds from sales of 171 million British pounds, with some markets showing losses for at least the past five years. Marks & Spencer released information stating that consultations have already begun for its proposal to close Slovakia's outlets affecting a total of 174 employees. The company plans to close a total of seven stores across the country; two in Bratislava, two in Košice, and one in Banská Bystrica, Nitra and Trenčín.
