The Slovak national ice hockey team won the 27th edition of the Germany Cup over the weekend. On their way to the overall victory, Slovaks beat the host country 3:1 on Friday. One day later, they defeated Canada 4:3 after a shootout, and outplayed Switzerland 4:1 in their closing game of the tournament on Sunday. Thus, Slovaks improved their confidence at the event which served as a players' check-up for the head coach Zdeno Cíger. Previously the national team dominated in 1997, 2006 and 2011. The team's performance offered a great boost for the team which included 3 newcomers and many young players.
