Apartment fire in Bratislava claims life of 20-year-old female

Police are investigating the circumstances of a fire in the Bratislava borough of Dubravka, which claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman. Emergency operators were notified of the fire on Ľuda Zúbka Street on Thursday evening (03/11). Upon arrival, police reported flames spreading out from a flat in the residential building, reported Bratislava Regional Police Spokesperson Michal Szeiff. Firefighters and ambulance crews worked to evacuate 25 residents from the first three floors of the building. "When extinguishing a fire in the hallway of one floor, the body of a 20-year-old woman was found with no signs of life", said the spokesperson. Resuscitation efforts on the woman were unsuccessful. Seven inhabitants were admitted to hospital with burns or breathing difficulties, two of whom were in serious condition, according to Bratislava University Hospital Bratislava Spokesperson Zuzana Eliášová. According to information from Zuzana Farkašová from the Fire and Rescue Corps in Bratislava, fire spread from the front door of a third floor apartment into the corridor.
