The planned re-imposition of the death penalty in Turkey would be incompatible with European values, in which case the EU's response should be unequivocal, Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák has said. Speaking after a cabinet meeting, he explained Ankara's plans are incompatible not just with the status of an EU candidate country but also with Turkey's membership of the Council of Europe.
