"The European Union is forgetting its responsibility for the creation of the refugee crisis," said Alaa Murabit, UN High-Level Commissioner on Health Employment & Economic Growth for TASR. Murabit took part at the international Development and Democracy conference in Bratislava last week. "The EU did not fail at the moment when hundreds of thousands of refugees started coming to its territory but much earlier," said Murabit who also asked why the EU hasn't intervened when refugees started arriving to camps in Turkey, Jordan or Lebanon. She also pointed at decreased credibility of the Union as global player as the member states prefer their individual interests to the European solutions, which could be seen with Brexit for example.
