The future of the EU Common Agricultural Policy, protection from African swine fever, investment in agricultural research, the sale of agricultural land, as well as the sugar and grain markets were discussed at a meeting in the Polish capital Warsaw by agriculture ministers from the Visegrad Four group. The group includes Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland. The meeting was also attended by representatives of Slovenia, Bulgaria and Romania.
"The Slovak Republic welcomes and supports all proposals that contribute towards making the Common Agricultural Policy simpler, while increasing flexibility, subsidiarity and reducing the administrative burden for Member States and the European Commission," Slovak Agriculture Minister Gabriela Matecna said.
The discussion on CAP revision is designed to draw up a more flexible response to global climate change, food security and the greening of business.
