Police are warning motorists of the need to prepare for the coming autumn and winter seasons, predicting slippery roads caused by rain, reduced visibility from fog, and the risk of aquaplaning increasing with the onset of colder, wetter weather. “The basic rule is to adapt your driving to suit the conditions.
Autumn also includes an increase of wild animals on the roads. Consequently, drivers in locations where it is likely that such game animals will appear on the roads, should pay extreme care,” said Spokesperson of the Police Presidium (CA) Denisa Baloghová. Police are also highlighting the importance of winter tires. “It must not be overlooked, as it significantly contributes to driving safety. Many ask when it’s the right time to change their tires. Experts say that the ideal time to move to winter tires occurs when the average daily temperature falls to seven degrees Celsius three days in a row,” added Baloghová.
