A number of lawmakers including parliamentary chair Andrej Danko (SNS) will be summoned by the Conflict of Interest Committee to explain their potential violations of the Conflict of Interest Act, with Stanislav Kubánek (Smer-SD) even facing a possible fine of approximately €100,000. The committee launched proceedings against Danko, Štefan Zelník, Tibor Jančula (all SNS), Kubánek and Peter Šuca (both Smer-SD) and Eugen Jurzyca (SaS). In the case of Šuca and Jurzyca, the committee is taking action over their unsuspended trade licences. Both lawmakers discovered that the suspension of their trade licence had expired and reported this on their own to the committee, admitting that they forgot about the expiration deadline. Kubánek faces multiple counts, as he failed to suspend his licence in more years than one and was also registered as a legal representative of a firm while exercising his MP mandate. He also discovered these missteps on his own and reported them to the committee. If found guilty, he might face a fine of up to €100,000, although he's not in danger of losing his MP mandate, seeing as his violations will be dealt with in a single proceeding and are thus not perceived as repeat offences. The committee is also taking action against the trio of lawmakers from SNS over their loans to the party prior to the 2016 general election. Zelník and Jančula admitted in a letter that they forgot to include claims towards third parties in their 2015 tax returns. Danko's alleged misstep was reported by the media.
