The government will, in line with EU law, create conditions for the independence of an energy regulatory body, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has told an international Energy Regulators Regional Association conference in Bratislava. European Commission Vice-president for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič is taking part in the conference, which is focused on investment and regulations in the power engineering sector. Fico went on to say that the Cabinet will also support vulnerable consumers of energy and address energy poverty. The prime minister added that the government has decided to draw up a National Infrastructure Plan for 2018-2030. "This plan will set the Government's priorities towards investment in economic and social infrastructure, and should include a binding financial plan and timetable for carrying them out," Fico said.
