Salaries at schools will come up more than at hospitals, barracks and various offices. The Cabinet guaranteed that all of the more than 300,000 state employees will receive €16 more every month, hiking the basic tariff of wages by 2 percent on average. However 86,000 teachers will be granted even more.
School trade unions have already confirmed that they have been offered a higher pay increase. A five-percent wage rise will go to teachers in kindergartens, elementary schools of arts, or after-school care at elementary schools and also non-pedagogical staffers. The Cabinet decided on the release of these funds on Wednesday.
