Interior Minister Kaliňák on flexible solidarity

In Slovakia's view, the EU's goal when it comes to addressing the migration crisis is clear, but it can be achieved in different ways. Slovak Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák stated this after a meeting of the EU's Justice and Home Affairs Council in Luxembourg on Thursday. Kaliňák explained that "flexible solidarity" includes proposals that were also presented at the EU Council. "It's necessary to get migration under control and improve the situation in countries of migrants' origin," said Kaliňák, adding that it must also be realised that "migrants are human beings, not numbers". European Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos added that current agreements concerning migration must be observed. On the other hand, he agreed with the Slovak minister and expressed willingness to discuss various ways of achieving the stated objectives.
