Efforts to preserve the Schengen system and questions relating to the extension of the zone are being discussed in Brussels today by EU interior ministers with EU Migration Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos and Slovak Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák, acting on behalf of the EU Presidency. Kaliňák said that in recent months there has been an evident change in the priorities of EU migration policies, which is reflected in a new European Commission proposal to reform the EU asylum system.
