The former Slovak president Michal Kováč who died last week, will be buried at a state funeral this Thursday. Moreover, a national day of mourning will take place from 8AM until 5PM during the day of the funeral. The public will have the chance to say goodbye to Kováč one day earlier, on Wednesday at Bratislava Castle. Michal Kováč, an economist by profession, was the first president of the Slovak Republic between the years 1993 and 1998, after the separation of Czechoslovakia.
