Slovakia's national under-21 football team has advanced to the European Championship, which will take place in Poland in June 2017. This success was sealed after Thursday's nil-all tie between the Netherlands and Turkey, which meant that none of these teams could attack Slovakia's first place in their 8th qualifying group. Slovakia had advanced to the Euro under 21 only once, in 2000. Then, the team ended fourth, earning a spot at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Aside from Slovakia, Portugal, and Denmark, England have also clinched their spot at the tournament. The host, Poland, will compete at the Euro automatically.
