Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák presented, on behalf of Slovakia, a €50,000 cheque to Nasir Jalili, the coordinator of the Afghan non-profit organisation Khair Khwa Social Services and Development Organisation in Brussels on Tuesday. The Slovak financial support will be used for the completion of two school buildings in the city of Mazar Sharif in northern Afghanistan. The donation forms a part of the Slovak humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. "Afghanistan is a focus of attention for the international community and the European Union. We're engaged in Afghanistan, as it's one of the three priority countries of our development assistance and our donations are primarily directed to the fields of education and health care," said Lajčák after the ceremonial handing over of the symbolic cheque as part of a two-day Brussels Conference on Afghanistan.
