School unionists are negotiating with the Education Minister about hikes in teachers' salaries today. Even though, all employees of public sector will have their salaries increased by 3% as of January, the hike does not include teachers yet. The government points to a 6% pay rise of teachers as of this September and to another 6% hike, which is planned for next September. The striking teachers say it is not enough. The Slovak Teachers' Initiative plans to escalate its strike. The pedagogues will continue in their strikes on Friday, October 7, Thursday, October 13, Wednesday, October 19, and Tuesday, October 25.
