Pilot killed in aircraft crash in eastern Slovakia

A 65-year-old pilot died in an aircraft crash close to Jakubovany (Prešov region), Prešov Regional Police Spokesperson Daniel Džobanik confirmed to TASR on Tuesday. "It was a two-seater aircraft, inbound from Romania to Sweden", said the police spokesperson. On Tuesday afternoon, an emergency call was received reporting the crash. "After receiving the call, firefighting units were despatched from Sabinov, Prešov, Raslavice, Bardejov, Hanušovice and Levoča. The wreck of the aircraft was discovered shortly before 3 PM," said Džobanik. Police have not yet obtained concrete information regarding other individuals on the small aircraft. According to preliminary findings, the aircraft was registered in Sweden, with the pilot being of Romanian nationality. A police investigation is currently underway at the crash site.
