The state budget posted a deficit of €644.3 million to the end of September by 45.2 percent lower in comparison to the same period of last year, the Finance Ministry reported on Monday. State expenditures were down by 10.7 percent year-on-year while income decreased by 6.9 percent year-on-year. Corporate tax collections increased by €545.3 million and excise taxes by €61 million. "Slight declines were reported only for VAT and income taxes paid by private individuals," stated the Finance Ministry. Costs related to servicing the state debt posted a drop of €98.8 million year-on-year, while expenditures related to the drawing of EU funds fell by €1.14 billion.
