The border bridge over the Danube river linking Slovakia and Hungary in the south-western Slovak village of Medveďov was reopened on Thursday. Thanks to favourable weather conditions, the Transport Ministry managed to finish repair works sixteen days ahead of schedule. According to Transport Minister Árpád Érsek, the early reopening will "cut costs related to the need to use detours, and drivers will thus not have to spend extra time". The bridge was closed on September 6, as there was a complete breakdown of concrete and asphalt layers in one part of it.
