As of October 1, the confederation of trade unions KOVO is launching a new campaign calling for higher salaries, reported TASR on Monday. They claim salaries should rise by at least 7 to 8 % next year, thus mirroring the hike in the minimum wage. Their reasoning is based on the growing economy and increased workforce productivity. However, employers are opposing this, claiming that workforce productivity is not growing evenly in all fields and that a hike in salaries could in fact have the very opposite effect on its growth.
